Isle of Sark Festival
Hat Fitz & Cara Robinson
Amped up old time blues with a Queensland twist.
Already firmly established on the Australian festival circuit, Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson have arrived in the UK and Europe to entertain audiences with their foot stomping blend of hill country and delta blues that is given a startling and exciting new direction with Cara's Irish roots.
As well as showcasing songs from their critically acclaimed album 'Beauty and the Beast' the charismatic duo will be performing a wealth of new material enhancing their reputation as one of the best live blues acts around.
Both artists live their music, giving it a gritty and genuine warmth. Their lives and musical backgrounds were half a planet apart until they met and forged a unique musical partnership.
The ‘wild man' of Australian blues, Fitz hails from Queensland, plays guitar and banjo whilst singing the blues with a huge physical presence that harks back generations to the blues greats like Son House and Charley Patton.
Not to be outdone, Cara plays drums, flute, washboard and whistles as well as singing. Whilst pulling her irish roots into the mix she also lends her love of old time swing to their compositions. Their own songs and tunes are crafted by them both to produce a sound totally original yet firmly rooted in many traditions that evokes raw and powerful emotions.
'For us they were the best act at the festival, and the best blues act we have ever seen' - Spiral Earth
You can catch Hat and Cara at the following UK and European venues over the summer months.

THE NEW ALBUM
HAT FITZ and CARA ROBINSON : “Beauty ‘n the Beast”
“The best I’ve heard in a very very long time” – THE BIG ISSUE , IRELAND
Now firmly established on the European and UK festival circuits Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson return to Australia to perform selections off their eagerly awaited and critically acclaimed CD “ Beauty ‘n the Beast” during a series of showcase performances across the country from October to late December.
If this album was a recipe it would read…………………
Take one heaped teaspoon of Seasick Steve, a liberal helping of Catfish Keith, a pinch of Joni Mitchell. Finish well with a dusting of Blind Willie McTell and put into a studio at gas mark 5. Bake for one week. What you get is an eclectic pie with so many flavours that perhaps shouldn’t work together but just do !
Both artists have vast experience behind them and have been able to gently influence each other without taking control. The variety of this recording is refreshing and the excitement comes from a sense that this is just the start of what is destined to be a large brood of musical offspring.
The blending of pre war hill country and delta blues with early Australian folk and traditional Celtic styles has produced a truly unique sound and has enhanced their reputation as one of the world’s most interesting and musically appealing combinations.

"The HAT MAN landed at the New Moon Showcase as part of their world our .....................OUTSTANDING !" - Hear No Evil Productions, Belfast, Northern Ireland
"Robinson has not tried to tame the savage beast. He still roars like a lion and is the perfect foil for her Bonnie Raitt – like vocal tones. The duo's shared lead vocals and rich harmonies transcend the boundaries of blues, rags, folk and bluegrass. Fitzy would have to be Australia's foremost purveyor of authentic pre war blues." - Al Hensley Rhythms
"If it's steady rollin blues you want then Hat Fitz, with a truly filthy and decadent side to his music [ he is not known as the wild man of Australian blues for nothing ] was just the ticket. Hat Fitz's great advantage was in being so different." - Review from the Shetland Times
